ANFA mulls Pokhara as WC qualifier venue

KATHMANDU: All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has been considering Pokhara as an alternative venue for the World Cup 2014 first round qualifier against East Timor. Nepal is to take on East Timor at home on June 29. "We are considering Pokhara as an alternative venue for the match since maintaining the Dasharath Stadium could be a difficult task because of the Martyrs Memorial A Division League," said ANFA President Ganesh Thapa. Division 4 either in US or Nepal

KATHMANDU: Either Nepal or the USA could get the opportunity to host Pepsi World Cricket League Division 4. Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) President Binay Raj Pandey, who attended the ICC Development Committee meeting in Botswana this week, said that the US is in first priority. ICC had asked assurance for visa procedure from the US Cricket Board citing that visa procedure for participants could be tough in the country.

Nepal´s bid got less priority since two other Asian countries -- Malaysia and Singapore -- got the opportunity to host Division 6 and Division 5, respectively. The development committee´s meeting in October will finalize the host for Division 4.
