Saswat Bikram Singh scored 16 points for the winning team while Ajay Nepali of GoldenGate was the highest scorer with 23 points. With the win National pursed Rs 20,000 while GoldenGate had to remain satisfied with Rs 10,000.
Tshering Sherpa of National was awarded with Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament. Sherpa received Rs 5,000 for the MVP title. Altogether 24 teams had participated in the tournament.
CAN announces national squad
KATHMANDU: Cricket Association Nepal (CAN) on Wednesday announced final 14-member national squad along with four reserve players for the World Cricket League Division 4 scheduled to start from September 3 to 11 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The 14-member squad includes Paras Khadka as skipper and Gyanendra Malla as vice captain. Sharad Vesawkar, Amrit Bhattarai, Chandra Saud, Anil Mandal, Shakti Gauchan, Basant Regmi and Sanjam Regmi retained their position in the squad.
Former captain Binod Das has been called back in the squad. Das was dropped from the national team that participated in the World T20 Qualifiers. Likewise, U-19 players Pradeep Airee, Prithu Baskota, Subash Khakurel and Rahul BK are also included in the list of 14 players. New face Yegya Man Kumal, who got the surprise call in the preliminary 18-member squad, is considered only as a reserve player. Likewise, wicketkeeper Mahesh Chhetri, Sagar Pun and Binod Bhandari are also considered as reserve.
Lama wins chess title
KATHMANDU: Undefeated Himal Lama of Annapurna Higher Secondary clinched the title of the Puspalal Memorial Inter College Chess Championship on Wednesday. Lama earned eight points off nine rounds winning seven games and playing two draws. Lama had to satisfy in draw results against Bibek Lama of Times College in the eighth round and Sushil Chaudhary of CBM College in the ninth round.
With the win Lama bagged Rs 18,000. Shyam Babu Shah of Mahendra Ratna Campus finished in the second position with 7.5 points and pursed Rs 12,000. Bibek Lama of Times College finished in the third position with seven points and 38.5 progressive points. Lama received Rs 7,000. Sajin Maharjan, Kundan Mishra, Susan Munikar, Bikramdhoj Shrestha, Rupesh Shivakoti, Sushil Chudhary and Prasan Bhasima finished from the fourth to the 10th positions. They received Rs 2,000 each.
