KATHMANDU: Prime College advanced into the final of the KCM Basketball Bash on Tuesday in girls section. Prime registered a comprehensive 51-15 victory over St Xavier´s with 11 points from Gyanu Gauchan. Prime will face Premier in the final on Thursday. In boys´ section, NASA and Golden Gate advanced to the semifinals. NASA overcame VS Niketan 40-28 with 13 points from Sanjay Byanjankar. NASA couldn´t field its top players Robin Khatri and Binod Maharjan as they were banned for their involvement in a scuffle earlier in the tournament. In another quarterfinal, Anish Shahi´s 12 points guided Golden Gate to a 50-23 win over Little Angels College of Management. Golden Gate will now face NASA in the semifinal.
Army School into semis
KATHMANDU: Army School on Tuesday advanced into the semifinals of the Fifth Chief of Army Staff Inter-School Running Cricket Tournament. Army School registered 155 runs victory over LRI. In the match played at Army School Ground, Bhaktapur, LRI won the toss and invited Army to bat first. Army School scored 188 runs in 20 overs losing five wickets. Kiran Shrestha scored 66 runs off 49 balls while Ayush Jung Thapa scored 16 runs. Ashish Subedi grabbed three wickets for LRI. Chasing the target of 189 runs, LRI was bowled out for 33 runs. Kiran Shrestha and Ayush Jung Thapa grabbed three wickets. Aaditya Poudel scored nine runs for LRI.
Nava Jeewan beats Bhadrakali
KATHMANDU: Host Nava Jeewan Academy started the Second NEA Inter School Basketball Tournament with a win in the boys´ category on Tuesday. The host overcame Bhadrakali 18-9 with nine points from Milan Khadka. Greenland, Siddhartha Vanasthali, Kathmandu Valley and Forward Academy also registered victories. Greenland edged past Angel´s Heart 23-22, Siddhartha beat Valley Public 39-37, Kathmandu Valley thrashed Laxmipur Tokha 48-17 and Forward defeated Innovative 31-28. In the girls´ section, Angel´s Heart thumped Bhadrakali 25-15 and Happy Homes Children Academy saw off Siddhartha Vanasthali 14-5.
