Mehta on Thursday started his fast unto death next to the District Administration Office, Sunsari, along with SP Sunsari district chapter chairman Devram Yadav. [break]
“The issue of delineation of election constituencies must be finalized in accordance with the new census report before holding the CA elections,” Mehta maintained.
Mehta has also demanded that farmers should be given subsidies while buying chemical fertilizers, seeds and agricultural equipment.
Similarly, he has demanded that community forests be transformed into public-private partnerships. Likewise, Mehta has demanded restoration of peace and security across the district, stating that abductions, murders and other crimes were rife in Sunsari.
According to Mehta, they submitted an eight-point memorandum to Chairman of Interim Election Council Khil Raj Regmi, through the chief district officer on Thursday.
“Some of our demands can be addressed locally while some can be addressed from the central level,” said Mehta, adding, “But no one has shown interest in doing so.”
