RAUTAHAT, Oct 3: The indefinite band called by the Madhesi Morcha has created an acute shortage of essential drugs in the riot-hit areas that are distributed through district hospitals for free of cost.

The dearth of medicine created by the continuous band has forced the ailing people to go across the Nepal-India border with the doctor's prescription to purchase medicine in the Indian market.

The government health centers have been providing 70 types of medicine to the patients suffering from high blood pressure, diabetes, chronic gastric problems and mental ailments free of cost under the list of essential drugs.
