Four of the deceased are from Saptari district. They have been identified as Devendra Prasad Gupta, 45, a shopkeeper at Khojpur VDC in the district, Geetadevi Yadav, 52, of Barhibirpur; Madhav Chaudhary, 55, of Sankarpur VDC-4 and Anandadev, 50, of Rajbiraj Municipality. [break]
With the seven deaths, the toll from cold wave in Saptari district has reached 26.
Similarly, report from Udayapur district said an elderly died in Sundarpur VDC-2 of the district. The deceased has been identified as Jhudridevi Sada, 65, of Musaharniya tole of the VDC.
According to police inspector Chandra Bahadur Thapa of Beltar Area Police Station, Sada succumbed to death after being bedridden for a day. Strewn with poverty, Sada and her family had been sheltered under thatched huts. There daily bread depended upon working other´s land, informed police.
Likewise, two elderly died in Kanchanpur district due to cold. The deceased have been identified as Jasmadevi Saud, 88, and Prem Bahadur Mahara, 89, of Bagunki village in Daijee VDC.
Meanwhile, an elderly Ratna Maya Magar,70, died of burns in Bishnukatari -3 of Siraha. Magar´s clothes caught fire when he was warming himself.
