KATHMANDU, April 3: Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal (RPP-N) has said that it would make a parliamentary push for re-establishing Nepal as a Hindu-state at an appropriate time.

The three-day meeting of the RPP-N central committee that concluded on Saturday in Birgunj took the decision to wait for an appropriate time to put forward a motion to repeal secularism through constitutional amendment."The party will launch street protests across the country demanding referendum if its amendment proposal is rejected by the parliament," stated a press release issued by Mohan Shrestha, the deputy spokesperson of the party.

The party has decided to conduct mass-meetings in all the seventy-five districts to raise awareness about Hinduism. The party has also said that the campaign will also seek to discourage caste-based discrimination, untouchability, child marriage, and dowry tradition.

The party noted that organized efforts were being made to convert people taking advantage of the constitutional provision of secularism and people's ignorance about Hinduism.

Meanwhile, the fourth largest party in the parliament, has stressed settling Madhes movement through political consensus and dialogues.

"Though they are a minority within the parliament, it would be a severe mistake to ignore Madhes movement and its effect on the country," stated the RPP-N.

The party has also stated that it was necessary to ensure economic development of Madhes and political rights Madhesi people.

RPP-N has also expressed concern over the failure of the government, of which it is a coalition partner, on doing substantial work to impress common people. "The party urges the government to take effective steps on ending fuel shortage, stopping black marketing, ending corruption, rehabilitating earthquake victims and resolving Madhesh issues," stated the press statement issued by the RPP-N's central committee.
