“The remark by Nepali Congress leader Shashank Koirala, son of the late B P Koirala, that the abolition of monarchy was unfortunate and by CPN-Maoist leaders that the ex-king and nationalist forces should work together for the promotion of Nepal´s nationalism are positive,” said Thapa while addressing a press conference organized in the capital on Tuesday. Thapa urged the CPN-Maoist leaders not to set any conditions for forging cooperation with the former monarch to safeguard Nepal´s nationalism. Earlier, CPN-Maoist Chairman Mohan Baidya had put forth the condition that the former king should accept the republican system for their cooperation with him.
On the occasion, Thapa also announced the launch of a special campaign across the country from the third week of September, in support of a Hindu kingdom in Nepal. The national unity campaign to commence from Gorkha--the place of origin of the Shah kings who founded modern Nepal--will reach all 75 districts.
