KATHMANDU, July 3: The Robotics Club in Pulchowk Campus is organizing Robocup Nepal 2069, where six teams from different engineering colleges from Kathmandu will be participating with their robots.

The event is scheduled to be held in the National Table-Tennis court in Lainchaur, Kathmandu on July 3, 2012 based on the theme, “Clean Bagmati Green Nepal”.[break]

“This event serves to show the technical growth in our country and raises awareness about the pollution that is present in Kathmandu and Bagmati River,” said Abishek Karn, Media Coordinator for the event.

The participants for the event have been divided into two teams, red and blue, who will be competing against each other to perform tasks based on the model of cleaning the environment.

The tasks are designed to imitate the act of separating wastes from the Bagmati River, producing manures and planting trees. Each team will be given three minutes to complete their tasks.

“It’s not a small deal. The students have worked extremely hard for this event,” shared Karn. The students received six months to work on their robots for the competition. Participants include students first year in Pulchowk Campus to the fourth year.

The program, which has been held five times before, serves to address the different issues the country is facing, through the challenges that the student-made robots must overcome. “It puts technical studies into real life practice,” said Karn.
