Release of combatants in Ilam begins

ILAM, Jan 25: Official release of the disqualified combatants in the first division of the Maoist cantonment in Chulachuli began on Monday.



Altogether 478 combatants of the 876 disqualified under UNMIN verification were released on the first day.



On the occasion, Chief of the Maoist Army Nanda Kishore Pun, Deputy Commander Chandra Dev Khanal and high-ranking government officials bid farewell to the combatants by offering them garlands.



Those released on Monday included 231 men and 146 women.



The released combatants received Rs 10,000 from UNMIN and Rs 12,000 from the Maoist side.
