Following the agreement, private vehicles will be barred from carrying tourists along that road section. Some of the tourism entrepreneurs were using private vehicles for carrying tourists from Pokhara to Muktinath.

Transport entrepreneurs were forcibly collecting money from tourist buses in the name of road maintenance. They had been allegedly creating problems by charging up to Rs 5,000 per vehicle and misbehaving with tourists.

Nepal Police DIG Rajendra Singh Bhandari said, “An agreement to not disrupt tourist vehicles has been reached.”

He said the police will take strict action against those who engage in disruptions.

“From now onward tourists can travel in Myagdi-Mustang road section without any trouble,” DIG Bhandari said. “If tourism entrepreneurs are found using private vehicles for carrying tourists, we will take action against them too.”

Police to be mobilized in Ghasa

Nepal Police will deploy police in Ghasa of Beni-Jomson road section after repeated complaints about tourists being misbehaved and disruptions on the road due to unlawful collection of money. DIG Bhandari said, “We are preparing to send a team headed by a police inspector to monitor the road section.”
