KATHMANDU, April 12: Preparation for a nationwide economic survey has been completed. The National Statistics Office informed that enumerators and supervisors reached their respective areas for the count.
The economic census begins on April 15. As per the schedule, data collection from the field will be completed by June 21. Nearly 5,000 workforces have been mobilized for the enumeration.

Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle has urged all industrial entities, enterprises and concerned persons to participate actively in the economic census. He viewed the data collection on economic and industrial sectors as crucial for the national plan and policymaking.
Basic details of 18 sectors under the economy will be gathered under the survey. The details like the number of industries, enterprises, service sectors, cooperatives and private and public entities and their types; employment, production, and service delivery are collected as part of the survey.
All trade entities—big and small, registered and unregistered—would be enumerated, and the employment data listed. Even the non-government organization, public corporations, government and private schools, and hospitals would be counted for the survey.
Offices in all 77 districts were established for the survey in the third week of March. Later, seven more offices were set up. These facilities will be continued till mid-July.
The National Statistics Office has requested one and all to cooperate with the government initiative in collecting accurate and necessary data. The last such survey was held seven years ago, which revealed that Nepal had over 923 thousand institutions and industrial entities.
