In his inaugural speech after inaugurating the Khurpajung Drinking Water Project at his birthplace at Khoplang of the district on Friday, Dr Bhattarai said he has to work for nearly 30 million Nepalis and has not been able to give much time to addressing the concerns of the rural parts of the country, as he has been occupied with tasks relating to the peace process and the new constitution.[break]
The drinking water project benefiting some 677 houses of Ward No. 1, 3 and 4 of Khoplang was completed at the total cost of Rs. 8.4 million. Of it, Rs. 5 million had been allocated when Dr Bhattarai was the Finance Minister while the remaining was met through local sources.
On the occasion, Dr Bhattarai said he would speed up his meetings with all the political parties following his return to Kathmandu, and take the initiative to conclude the peace process.
“I am confident of all the parties reaching to a consensus in the peace process and the new constitution immediately after Dashain festival is over”, he said.
Stating that he would continue to work in the interest of the country and people, Dr Bhattarai also pledged to keep his promises.
He claimed that the nation has experienced some relief since he took the oath of office of the Prime Minister, and added that he was striving to develop an atmosphere conducive for the bigger donor agencies to work in Nepal.
Prime Minister Dr Bhattarai felicitated 57 elderly at a program organized at the Bindhyabasini Lower Secondary School at Belabasa of Khoplang.
Dr Bhattarai had studied for a year at the school. He was given a grand and warm welcome by the locals upon his arrival to his home village.
He is accompanied by his father Bhoj Raj Bhattarai and spouse Hishila Yami. Dr Bhattarai is scheduled to stay at his home in Belbasa, Khoplang today.
