Police seize clothes worth Rs 100m

BARA, May 22: Narayani Zonal Police Office seized illegally imported clothes worth Rs 100 million from Pathliya on Tuesday night. The police seized the consignments from three buses heading to Gaur from Kathmandu based on a tip-off.



"We swung into action after we received information that clothes smuggled from India are being taken to Kathmandu in three passengers buses," Sarbendra Khanal, Senior Superintendent of Police at the Narayani Zonal Police Office, said. [break]



According to Khanal, the firms that were taking the consignment to Kathmandu had fake Permanent Account Number (PANs).

The firms involved in illegal import of clothes include Rose General Order Suppliers, Hema General Suppliers, Mizananda Impex, Rajdevi Traders amd Jitu Enterprises. These firms are based in Kathmandu and Gaur,a ccording to the police.
