Police clash with Mahato-led cadres at Sunauli checkpoint

RUPANDEHI, Oct 7: Police have clashed with Madhesi cadres at the Belhiya checkpoint on Wednesday.

One cadre has reportedly been injured in the clash that began at 3 pm today.

The Madhesi cadres led by UDMF leaqder Rajendra Mahato are reportedly pelting stones from the Indian border side at the Nepal Police personnel.

Nepal police had dispersed the cadres while they were preparing to stage a sit-in at the no-man's zone. Currently they are pelting stones from the Indian soil.

The cadres are pelting stones even though the Indian police on Tuesday had expressed commitment not to let the cadres to pelt stones from the Indian soil.


Leader Mahato who reached Sunauli on Tuesday via Gorakhpur of India from Raxaul is directing the cadres from Niranjan Hotel. With Mahato's arrival, the number of cadres has soared up in Sunauli checkpoint.
