According to a source at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Foreign Minister Sujata Koirala, Labor Minister Mohammad Aftab Alam and senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Labor and Transport Management have been invited to sort out the differences between the two ministries on the appointment of six labor attachés.[break]
On Monday, the CIAA sent an official to the Ministry of Labor and Transport Management to collect the related dossiers for investigation, a ministry official said.
The government appointed six labor attachés for Japan, Hong Kong, Oman, Kuwait, Israel and South Korea early this month, without meeting required criteria. Only one candidate met the set criteria so far.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) and its officials are concerned as the decision was taken without consulting it. Labor attachés work in missions under MoFA.
The row flared up after Minister Alam misbehaved with Foreign Secretary Madan Bhattarai and Joint Secretary Durga Prasad Bhattarai Monday after they suggested to the minister to consider the financial implications of appointment of labor attachés.
