KATHMANDU, Jan 3: Nepali Congress (NC) youth leader Gururaj Ghimire has said a special general convention has become inevitable as the party leadership has continuously ignored the sentiments and demands of its cadres.
Taking to social media, Ghimire accused the leadership of authoritarian behavior, citing neglect, mistreatment of members calling for a special convention, and open violations of party statutes.

“Failing to implement even the minimum paper schedule of the general convention, arbitrarily postponing it, and not giving prior notice to party members is not only undemocratic but also authoritarian,” he wrote.
Recalling that the NC ended Rana's autocratic rule 75 years ago, Ghimire said similar autocratic practices are now emerging within the party. Treating party workers—who have contributed as much or more than leaders—as mere ‘subjects’ and running the party like private property, he added, is wholly condemnable.
Warning the leadership not to ignore calls for a special convention, he said any political fallout from forceful decisions would be the sole responsibility of the leadership.
Quoting a Sanskrit verse, Ghimire emphasized that those who abandon rules and act arbitrarily cannot achieve success, happiness, or higher goals.
