Olympian Jit Bahadur KC along with athletes Bimala Rana Magar, Umesh Maskey, Laxman Basnet and Mukunda Hari Shrestha carried the torch through important points in the Valley. The torch procession went through Kalanki, Swayambhu, Balaju, Maharajganj, Lazimpat, Durbar Marg and Basantapur before concluding in the premises of Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) at Bhrikuti Mandap.
Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation Sharat Singh Bhandari handed over the torch to Prachanda Man Shrestha, CEO of NTB.
The athletes will take the torch through major thoroughfares in Lalitpur, Bhaktapur and Kirtipur on Thursday.
PM Madhav Kumar Nepal is scheduled to inaugurate the year-long tourism promotional campaign by lighting the peace torch on February 26.
