Nordic Parliamentarians on Nepal visit

KATHMANDU, Jan 17: A delegation of five parliamentarians from Denmark and Norway met with Prime Minister Mr Madhav Kumar Nepal Monday morning and discussed issues related to peace and development in Nepal and the challenges the country faces in moving the constitution building process forward.



According to a press statement issued by Office of the United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator, the delegation also called upon Chairman of the Constituent Assembly Subas Nembang, Finance Minister Surendra Pandey and the representatives of the donor community in Nepal.



The delegation arrived in Kathmandu on the invitation of the UN cordinator in Nepal. The parliamentarians are in Nepal to appraise themselves of the current situation and to exchange views on the relevance of current and future UN programs.



During their stay in Kathmandu, the delegation will travel to the field, visiting Morang, Sunsari and Kapilbastu districts to observe the development and humanitarian program implemented by the UN Country Team in Nepal.







The UN Resident & Humanitarian Coordinator in Nepal Robert Piper welcomed the visit as an opportunity for the UN Country Team to showcase results as well as highlight some of the challenges Nepal faces in this important post-conflict transition period.
