A three member panel led by SSP Bijaya Bhatta had arrived here following Singhaniya´s murder six days ago. [break]
Bhatta said several people were yet to be interrogated and the process of collecting evidence would take time. “We are still in the process of interrogating persons who were with Singhaniya before he was shot dead,” he added.
Stating that primary investigation into the incident was already on, Bhatta said, “We have already interrogated many persons, including those who work for the newspaper and the radio service.”
Bhatta hoped that motive behind the murder would be made public soon.
The details of Singhaniya´s murder based on eyewitnesses´ account were published by Janakpur Today as well as some other newspapers. But, the police investigation team is trying to give the incident a twist, said Brij Kumar Yadav, editor, Janakpur Today.
He said he was also saddened by the fact that mediapersons published the news based on statements of the police and administration instead of expressing grief over the murder. He also questioned the investigation team´s act of publishing the information.
“If Janakpur Today or its news is itself under suspicion, why did the police make the information public instead of keeping it a secret?" Yadav questioned.
The investigation team had earlier claimed that the news published in the daily on Wednesday was fabricated and didn´t reveal the source. The police had suspected that the person associated with the publication could have witnessed or been involved in the murder.
