NHRC urges to seek solution through dialogue

KATHMANDU, Nov 10: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has urged the poll-opposing 33-party alliance including the CPN-Maoist to resolve the problems through talks, saying its serious attention has been drawn towards the general strike called by the poll-opposing parties at a time when election to the Constituent Assembly (CA) is coming closer. The NHRC urged the banda enforcers, government and all bodies concerned to resolve problems through discussion and talks and not to take step of piling unnecessary pressure on general public by organizing bandas.



A press release issued today by NHRC stated that there would be serious impact on exercise of fundamental rights due to banda at a time when the Nepali people are participating in the political system of the country by using their voting rights.



There would be negative impact on the whole political system of promulgating human rights-friendly constitution through Constituent Assembly, states the press release.



The NHRC requested the bodies concerned to support to end the culture of banda by forwarding protesting program in a peaceful and creative manner as banda would curb human rights of patients, workers as well as of the general public.



The press release also drew the attention of banda enforcers to respect fundamental rights of people to receive necessary services including education, health.
