KATHMANDU, March 26: Yoga guru Swami Ramdev, who arrived in Kathmandu on Friday to run a four-day yoga camp at Tundikhel, said that he would turn more than 100,000 Nepalis into Yoga instructors over the next one year.

Ramdev, accompanied by ayurveda expert Balkrishnajee Maharaj, said that a massive group of Nepali yoga instructors will be reshaping a new Nepal through the ages-old practice of Yoga. “Currently, I have some 25,000 yoga instructors in Nepal,” he told a press meet. “I will be focusing on producing more instructors here.” The celebrated yoga guru has already announced that he is setting up three branches of the Patanjali Yogapitha, the center of his yoga activities, in Nepal.

“I have established just one yoga center in India so far,” he said. “But I am all set to establish three such centers at once in Nepal.” His yoga centers in Nepal will be at Mandikhatar, Dhulikhel and Syangja. He has already bought large swathes of land for the new yoga centers.

Ramdev, who believes in bridging two different cultures or civilizations through yoga practice, said that he would aim at bridging Nepal´s enchanted customs, traditions and beliefs with those of India. “Yoga literally implies bridging,” he said. “I will be cementing Nepal´s inextricable relationship with India still further.”

The yoga guru said that he would make those participating in his camp healthy. “Participants of my camp will lose half a kg of weight on the first day,” he asserted, adding, “I am sure 75 percent of participants taking tablets for blood pressure will get rid of them. Those who rely on tablets for cholesterol will stop that the first day.”

No politics while in Nepal

Ramdev, who recently made headlines for saying that he would join politics in future, said Friday that he has no plans or motive for indulging in politics in Nepal.

“I will form a strong party in India to reform the polity through a nonviolent and constitutional movement,” he said, “But I am sorry that I cannot do this in Nepal.” Reacting to journalists´ prodding, he said, “Why would you drag me into controversy?"
