Nepali medical students stranded in China

KATHMANDU, Dec. 8: Over 60 Nepali students enrolled in MBBS and MD courses in various universities in China have been left stranded, said the parents of these students.



As many as eight students who went for doing the MBBS course at Southern University, China, have been helpless while 17 MD students are said to be stranded in Launing University. [break]Similarly, six MBBS and eight MD students at Chauchang University, 11 MBBS students in Xindao University, two MBBS and 27 MD students in Teinjin University have been left helpless after their university fee was not paid.



They became helpless when their donors associated with Motherland Charitable Foundation based at Chandi Complex in Kalimati, Kathmandu Metropolitan City Ward No 13, did not pay the fee as per the commitment to the universities.



Speaking at a programme organized at Reporters´ Club, Kathmandu, on Saturday, Purushottam Pokhrel, one of the guardians of the student victim, claimed that the owners of the Foundation Dr. Mukesh Jha, Engineer Dr. Radha Jha, and Pravin Pahari did not fulfill their commitment to pay the students´ fee to the universities.



The guardians of the student victims said that they had paid Rs. 1.2 million per student for MD course and Rs. 750,000 per student for MBBS course to the Universities through the Foundation.
