The winner and the runner up teams of the two -week tournament will be awarded cash prizes worth Rs 300,000 and Rs 150,000 respectively while two semifinalists will bag a purse of Rs 50,000 each, informed ANFA General Secretary Dhirendra Pradhan. [breaks]
Similarly, the best players in four different positions -- goalkeeper, defender, midfielder and forward -- will be awarded Rs 25,000 each and the best coach will also be awarded with same amount of cash prize. Besides, the best player of the tournament will be awarded a scooter. The expected cost of the tournament is Rs 3.2 million.
This is the biggest cash prize in women´s domestic football organized by ANFA. Earlier, the biggest cash prize for the winning team was Rs 50,000.
"Nepal´s women football team has emerged as a strong team in South Asia. Thus ANFA has joined hands with the private sector for the development and promotion of women´s football," Pradhan said.
Meanwhile, ANFA will also conduct a preliminary selection of players for the national team for participation in the Women´s SAFF Championship in Sri Lanka on September. "We will assign a coach for this purpose and he will pick the players for the preliminary stage," ANFA President Ganesh Thapa said adding all the eight nations of South Asia will compete in the tournament.
The tournament to be held under knockout format will be held in Chandranigahapur of Rautahat and Simara of Bara. The opening match will be held at Chandranigahapur and closing match in Simara.
Armed Police Force (APF) is the winner since 10th to 13th edition of the tournament and the 14th edition will feature a total of 27 teams including three departmental teams -- Nepal Army Club, Nepal Police Club and APF and 24 district teams.
Regarding the selection process of district teams, Thapa said, "We have picked those districts that conduct more football activities and have more potential. The district teams will be selected by respective local district associations."
ANFA will bear all the expenses of the team including transportation and accommodation, among other things.
Ncell which is also the sponsor of national women team is the sponsor of the tournament. Bara and Rautahat district football associations are the local organizer of the event.
