NCC storms into quarterfinals

KATHMANDU, May 5: Nepal Commerce Campus (NCC), Minbhawan, humiliated Mahendra Morang Campus, Biratnagar by seven wickets on Sunday to enter the quarterfinals of Thames Inter-college T20 Cricket Tournament being held at Nepal Army grounds, Bhaktapur.



Kathford also advanced into the last eight after enjoying a walkover from Prime College.[break]



Invited to bat first, Mahendra Morang was bowled out for a paltry total of 39 runs in 11.5 overs as Prabhat Pokharel bagged three wickets for NCC and Nischal Rijal finished off the tail with a hat-trick in the 12th over. Pokharel was declared the man-of-the-match.



Rijal conceded five runs in his 1.5-over spell while Pokharel conceded 10 runs in his two-over spell.



Sunam Ghising (11) was the only batsman to reach double figures for Mahendra Morang that lost other batsmen cheaply.



Chasing the target NCC made 42 runs losing two wickets in seven overs. Laxman Bhandari remained unbeaten on 18 runs and Sambidhan Baidya scored an unbeaten eight runs.



On Monday, Shankar Dev will take on KCMIT while KMC will lock horns with K&K.
