The demand of NC youth CWC members comes a time when party senior leaders have been expressing differing opinions on the issue of consensus government lately.[break]
NC CWC member Gagan Thapa complained that the party´s senior leaders have been demanding formation of national consensus government even as the party is yet to take an official decision on the issue. “Party senior leaders also differ over which party should lead new government and the basis for national consensus government,” Thapa said.
He added that formation of national consensus government was the agenda of CPN-UML. “Now our senior leaders have been advocating for national consensus government under NC leadership. If this the official position now the party should endorse this through a CWC meeting,” he added.
“If you ask me I am personally in favor of a Maoist-led government, while I want the Nepali Congress to lead the constitution writing and peace process,” he further said.
“The party needs to take decision on contentious issues. The party should immediately call CWC meeting to take an official stand on the formation of consensus government,” said another CWC member Pushpa Bhusal.
NC Chief Secretary Basanta Kumar Gautam said Party President Sushil Koirala will soon take a decision to call CWC meeting of the party.
