A look at the results of the election in provinces five, six and seven in the western Nepal shows both the establishment and Deuba sides locked in a tight race in the constituency level conventions that precedes the party's district elections.
The outcomes of the elections in mid-western and far-western regions that were made public on Sunday showed 27 representatives close to the Deuba faction won as president in the total 41 electoral constituencies.
By Sunday evening, the results of elections in 15 out of 24 mid-western and far western districts had been released.
A total of 498 representatives elected in those districts, 290 are close to the Deuba faction and 196 to the establishment faction, according to district based Republica correspondents.
Twelve of those who got elected are said to be neutral.
In province number seven, the region Sher Bahadur Deuba hails from, 154 out of the total elected 204 representatives are his supporters. The establishment side got just 45 representatives elected in the province while the remaining five favor neither side.
The results of the constituency level elections in three districts, Achham, Bajura, and Darchula, are yet to be finalized.
Similarly, the competition between both rival factions is tough in Bheri and Rapti districts of the mid-western region. While the NC establishment saw 151 of its supporters elected in the two districts, 136 of Deuba allies won the constituency level elections.
The NC establishment leads in the hill districts of Rolpa, Pyuthan, Dailekh and Jajarkot in the mid-west while Deuba supporters have won majority seats in Salyan.
There is also a fierce competition between the rival factions in Rupandehi and Kapilvastu, the two largest districts in province number five.
In Rupandehi, out of the total 82 seats, Deuba faction has won 50 seats. In Kapilvastu, the NC establishment is ahead with 47 of its supporters getting elected in a contest of 60 seats.
