“We want the ruling coalition to take concrete steps to advance the peace process and prepare an environment to ensure a democratic constitution before extending the CA term. Therefore, we can´t allow this House meeting to proceed,” said the NC Chief Whip Laxman Ghimire at the parliament meeting.
The government plan to table the bill on May 22 and conduct vote on May 26 has hit a stumbling block due to protests from the opposition parties.
Last year, the bill to amend the constitution for CA term extension was endorsed in the midnight of May 28. The CA term extension bill needs to be amended by two-thirds majority in parliament.
