“We have recently forwarded the names of the industries suggested by the private sector to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) -- one of the implementing ministries,” a high-level source at the MoI told Republica on Sunday.
In the budget for the fiscal year 2010/11, the government has announced different facilities for industries providing direct employment to more than 100 Nepalis. The facilities, among others, include building black-topped roads to the industries, arranging electric grids and water supply.
The government has also promised to set up a sub-health post staffed with health workers and a police post with five armed policemen at the manufacturing industries offering employment to more than 500 Nepalis.
According to sources, the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) and Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) have forwarded the names of eight industries providing employment to more than 500 people and 34 industries recruiting more than 100 people to the MoI.
The MoI had asked FNCCI, CNI and Federation of Nepal Cottage and Small Industries (FNCSI) to provide separate data of industries, meeting the government set criteria to enjoy the incentives announced in the budget.
A source at MoI told Republica that FNCCI and CNI have forwarded the names of Karan Shoe Manufacturer, Arihanta Multi-Fiber, Hetauda Cement, Reliance Spinning Mill, CG Foods, Raghupati Jute Mill and Hulas Steel. These industries provide direct employment to more than 500 Nepalis.
“We have also requested FNCCI and CNI to verify the list as asked by the MoH,” the source said, adding that the MoI was also forwarding the list to other concerned ministries such as the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Physical Planning and Works, and the Ministry of Energy for implementation of the incentive programs.
