‘Mukti and Revival’, the blues based rock band, was about perform for ‘A Salute to the Summer’ concert. [break]
The concert kicked off with the band ‘Modesty’ playing their original compositions. The band’s performance, which is the title winner of the second edition of ‘Kamana Save The Planet’, worked like a warm up session for the audience.
The representative of Positive Vibes, the organizer of the event Bikesh Kayastha termed the show as “highly successful.” “Mukti and Revival performed around twenty songs and the audience enjoyed every single number,” he said.
The band which is currently working on its fourth album “Andhakar” has recently returned from seven-month long tour. During their tour, Mukti and Revival staged shows in Denmark, Australian cities of Melbourne and Sydney.
As the band waited for its turn on stage, Republica caught up with Mukti Shakya, the lead singer of the band, for a brief chitchat. Excerpts:
So, how was your tour?
Excellent, I say this because the crowd in each concert was enthusiastic. That works as an inspiration and gives a sense of satisfaction and enjoyment.
How are open concerts different from indoor ones?
We performed at the Durbarmarg Street Festival recently. ‘A Salute to the Summer’, however, is different and better because the crowd is smaller and more organized. At open concerts the police are big performers than the bands.
What is keeping the band busy these days?
We are working on our next album at the moment. It should be out in about six month’s. Talking about our immediate plan, we are heading to Butuwal for a concert.
One message to your fans?
We have been through hell with all the instability in the country. Instead of giving up, however, we need to have faith. Nepal is a beautiful country and we are all proud to be part of it. We need to learn from our past mistakes and work toward creating a better tomorrow.
