A joint team of ornithologists from Bird Education Society-Chitwan, Kosi Wildlife Reserve-Sunsari and Nature Guide Association-Chitwan conducted the study at Chitwan National Park on May 8.

President of Bird Education Society Basu Bidari, a member of the study team, said the Bristle Grass Bird which is on the verge of extinction in the world was found on the grassland at Chitwan National Park in significant numbers.

According to him, this species of bird was found in less number in the park last winter. This species of bird migrates to Chitwan National Park from India during winter and generally stays up to May.

Bidari said the study team found 82 different species of birds inside the Chitwan National Park on that particular day on which the study was conducted. There are 564 species of birds in the national park. He said 20 of the 35 species of birds on the verge of extinction have been found in Chitwan National Park.
