Maoist office bearers fail to nominate new ministers

KATHMANDU, May 3: A meeting of office bearers of UCPN (Maoist) failed to nominate the new ministers from its party on Tuesday. However, the meeting agreed to nominate the ministers within two days.



The meeting has also decided to mobilize the people from May 15 to 25 in a bid to exert pressure for new constitution and peace process. [break]



Earlier on Saturday, top leaders of the UCPN (Maoist), CPN-UML and Madhesi People´s Rights Forum (MPRF) agreed to end the long-running deadlock over cabinet expansion and enlarge the 19-member cabinet by Monday.



Top Maoist brass led by Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal even held talks with the NC late Monday evening and sought the latter´s cooperation in finalizing the first integrated draft of the constitution before May 28.



A meeting of the office bearers of the Maoist on Saturday had decided to hold serious talks with the UML and the main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) on contentious issues of the peace process and power-sharing.



Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal had proposed to defer the political line of revolt and focus on peace and constitution in the party’s central committee meeting.
