Mahabir Club held Birgunj 1-1 on Sunday to give Madhyapur Youth Association (MYA) a fair chance of promotion. If Birgunj had won the match, they would have been promoted to the ´A´ division.[break]
Birgunj has 28 points from 14 matches and the second position on the points table. Madhyapur has 26 points from 13 matches and the third position. If Madhyapur wins its last match in the league against Star Club on Tuesday, it will move into the second position and secure promotion to the ´A´ division.
Sunday´s result also meant that Sankata Club, with 30 points, is now the champions of B Division.
On the Nepal Police Academy Ground, Maharajgunj, Krishna Shakya gave a lead to Birgunj in the 42nd minute.
Mahabir, which was cheered by a small but a loud crowd from Madhyapur, put up coordinated effort on the field in the second half.
Ramesh Gurung scored the equalizer in the 77th minute. Birgunj goalie could not clear Gurung´s 30-yard free kick.
Meanwhile, Wangel Ghalan scored in the 12th minute to help Pulchowk Sports Club pull a 1-0 win over Kumari Youth Club in the second match of the day.
Pulchowk moved up to the fourth position after the win. Pulchowk has 26 points from 14 matches. Kumari Youth has 6 points from 14 matches and is one of the relegated teams.
