Madhav Nepal raps govt on peace, statute

NEPALGUNJ, May 9: Former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal has accused the government of failing to deliver on peace and constitution writing and urged it to work seriously.



"It has been three months since this government was formed but it has done nothing during this period therefore I urge the government to seriously work for peace and constitution," he told reporters here Monday.[break]



Nepal said the Constituent Assembly´s term can be extended only if an integrated draft of the new constitution is prepared before May 28. He said the draft is possible if the UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and the Maoist party works sincerely.



"Disarming the Maoist party is the first condition for ensuring promulgation of new constitution," he said. "Let´s prepare an integrated draft and then we can discuss CA term extension."
