RASUWA, April 13: Senior Justice Kalyan Shrestha has said that the country has reached to a critical phase as the political parties have failed to use their wisdom. Addressing an awareness campaign organized by Constitution Information Center in Dhunche, the headquarters of Rasuwa district, on Sunday, Shrestha said that the inordinate delay in constitution drafting might transfer Nepal into a failed state in the eyes of international community.

"I have been suggesting to the political parties not to meddle with judiciary since the political parties are unable to resolve their own matters. They have been unable to settle issues like federalism, system of governance, which are particularly their business. In this scenario, I have been suggesting to them that it would be better to leave the judiciary alone," said Shrestha.

"Constitution could be drafted in no time if political consensus is reached. The constitution drafting process has been delayed since the political parties have consider the constitution to be unchangeable document," he added.

Shrestha opined that a constitution can be amended through due process whenever necessary. "It would be better not to raise an issue, if you cannot settle it. Political parties have started discussion over system of governance, executive and judiciary but could not settle even a single issue," said Shrestha.
