KATHMANDU, May 11: Constituent Assembly (CA) Chairman Subas Chandra Nembang on Friday urged the political parties to keep their promise to promulgate the new constitution within the stipulated time.

Speaking at a program organized at Nepal Art Council Gallery in the capital, Nembang said, "Keep your promise. There is nothing to answer with to the people if the new statute is not drafted on time. No possible excuse is left now [for not promulgating the constitution]."

Recalling leaders proclaiming that the contentious issues would be settled in no time once the the army integration process ends, Nembang said the disputed issues continue to remain even though the army integration process is now drawing to a close.

He, however, expressed his optimism that  the leaders would be able to resolve the issues on time and that the new constitution would be issued by the May 27 deadline even by cutting short the procedure.

Stating that the interim constitution does not provide for how to handle the new situation if the constitution is not drafted on time, Nembang stressed that there is no alternative to issuing the constitution within the time-frame.
