Jumla Festival in the offing

JUMLA, June 2: Jumla Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) is organizing the ´1st Jumla Festival´ from September 22 to 28.

Govinda Shahi, president of JCCI, said the seven-day festival will have a total of 150 stalls.



The organizers on Sunday held an all-party meeting in district headquarters Khalanga to seek suggestions from stakeholders for the event. The meeting handed over the responsibility of organizing the event to JCCI. [break]



Works like construction of public toilets and extending access of all households in Khalanga to drinking water will be completed before the festival.

The festival will showcase different cultural programs and promote local products, according to the organizers.



Shahi said income from the festival will be utilized for different social works. Hari Pyakurel, CDO of Jumla, said the fair would be instrumental in promoting the identity of Jumla district at national and international level.

The total cost of organizing the event has been estimated at Rs 2.1 million.
