Journo attack accused Basnet promoted by YAN

KATHMANDU, July 28: The sister-wing of CPN-UML Youth Association Nepal (YAN) has promoted Parshu Ram Basnet to the Central Committee (CC) member of YAN. Basnet is accused of being the mastermind behind the attack of Biratnagar-based Republica´s journalist Khilanath Dhakal. Basnet was vice-chairman of YAN Morang district.



The national assembly of YAN in the Capital also appointed 19 people, including Basnet, to the post of CC member. [break]



Organizing a press meet in the Capital on Saturday, the YAN Chairman Mahesh Basnet informed that other promoted to the CC were Durga Gautam (Jhapa), Himal Limbu (Sunsari), Niranjan Jha (Saptari), Prabhat Katuwal (Khotang), Harka Rai (Solukhumbu), Tempa Singhi Lama (Rasuwa), Niresh Lal Singh (Kathmandu), among others.



Similarly, YAN has also decided it would seize vehicles provided to the former VIPs. The YAN also announced a 10-day agitation program against the government. The program includes torch rally, transport strike, and demonstrations on various days from July 29 to August 8.
