KATHMANDU, Nov 3: The government has promoted five Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) to the rank of Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG).
According to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA), SSPs Bhupendra Khatri, Sanuram Bhattarai, Om Adhikari, Shekhar Khanal and Abi Narayan Kafle have been promoted to DIG.
Five Nepal Police SSPs Promoted to the Post of DIG
Following the promotion, DIG Khatri has been posted to the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), Bhattarai to the Criminal Investigation Department at Police Headquarters, Adhikari to the Valley Police Office, Ranipokhari, Khanal to the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) and Kafle to the Secretariat of the Inspector General of Police.
The promotions were made by a decision of a committee led by Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal. The newly promoted officers have been posted in their respective offices on Monday. The insignia conferment ceremony, however, will be held in a few days, officials said.
The officers had been recommended for promotion on October 26. SSP Bishwa Adhikari, who topped the promotion list, was not promoted. Adhikari was the chief of Kathmandu Police Range during the September 8 and 9 Gen Z protests.
