Jewelry store looted

KATHMANDU, Feb 24: An unidentified group robbed a jewelry store in Purano Baneshwar on Wednesday evening.



According to police, five khukuri-wielding men entered Bhojpur Dingla Jewelry Store at 7:45 p.m. while proprietor Dwarika Shankar was keeping gold inside the locker after closing the shop. The robbers made away with around 50 tolas of gold, said the police.



The unidentified men tied Dwarika with a telephone wire before fleeing the scene. Police reached the site 45 minutes after the incident.



According to chief of Kathmandu Metropolitan Police Circle Ganesh KC, initial investigations by the police reveal that the looters were hiding inside the shop before it was closed.



Meanwhile, proprietor Dwarika has claimed that the looters made away with 6 kilo gold and two million rupees in cash.
