Head Constable Tej Narayan Mahato was injured after his gun was accidentally fired and hit the right knee during his duty, and was sent to Kathmandu for treatment as it was not possible in Narayani Sub-Regional Hospital, Birgunj.[break]
Mahato is a resident of Kapilbastu and investigation is on, said Parsa DSP Sanjiv Sharma.
Meanwhile, an attempt of murder has been made Friday in Birgunj.
An unknown person shot at Basim Akhtar, who is living in Birgunj Sub-Metropolis- 16.
Basim of Belwa VDC was living there on rent for some time and saved himself as he grabbed the pistol when the man was about to shoot at him at 2:45 pm Friday, said locals.
The youth is at large after the grabbing of the pistol.
