GREAT QUAKE ; CHANGE IN NEPALI POLITICS

 

In that  hour  of grief, the mind of everyone was frustrated but now we should move ahead . Actually,tragedy is obligatory . The devasting quake imply the damage to our pride and delight ; nine storyed dharahara,and many unesco's recogonized heritages. Promptly, it is self evident,those heritages to be found only in the pages of the history. Now, there is the need to make many attempts and revival. Somebody asked me that " Will this great quake  bring any revolutionary steps in Nepali politics?" Yes , this was the question of every nepalese people and it seems to be devoted gradually . The major political  parties have setteled a 16 point agreement in antagonistic  issues such as federalism , form of government, electoral system and judiciary  postponing the key disputes on federalism. It is to be taken as a great achievement itself, because the parties who rarely ever took thier time to think for accordance and people's aspirations have  had such a agreement. As I mentioned earlier, the earthquake taught something worthy to us besides fuelling fear: to make realize the political leaders that they will ultimately endanger their own political careers for thier mistakes . People criticize that april 25 great quake was the primary factor in forging unity to the leaders of political parties. It seems to be true because the UCPN Maoist who tried everything for being  obstacle in CA had such a agreement of federal states(8 agreed) being so much flexible. Anyway , after introduction of democracy, and after two CA elections and many shameless works , the political parties  are worthy to draft a new constitution within two months as possible. The disaster provoked the parties get realization that the people wouldn't excuse them if they failed to tackle the national crisis  and fullfill people's craving.Also,there were many external influences on Nepali politics by neighbouring countries which made this deal easier because both india and china want affirmation that the new federal set-up will not affect them . On the sixth day of the earthquake, UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, who is also the leader of the main opposition party in the parliament, had announced, "We have forgotten squabbling since the quake."  Anyway, the today's approach of political parties has instilled hope in the heart of every nepalese people.

 

In the history of nepal , we can find that although some vital steps were taken after 1990's quake (such as arrangement of a house for each family, consesus in politics,rehabiliation and reconstruction etc.) The country’s political life since 1990 has been marked by prolonged instability. So,Let's hope that we could ensure our proper safety and minimize effects of quake in near future and also hope that our government will maintain political stability and reach the height of success.
