Grand tourism fair in Lumbini on Jan 15-16

KATHMANDU, Jan. 10: In a bid to promote Lumbini as an international Buddhist center and tourist destination in the country, a grand tourism fair is going to be organized in Lumbini on from January 15 to 16.



The fair is being organized jointly by the governments of Nepal and India on the occasion of the conclusion of the Visit Lumbini Year 2012. [break]



At a press meet organized in the capital to share information about the fair, Deputy Chief of Mission at Embassy of India in Kathmandu, Jaideep Mazumdar, said that Indian tourists were attracted toward the natural beauty of Nepal. The grand tourism fair would help promote economic development in Nepal, he hoped.



Similarly, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation, Bal Krishna Ghimire, said that the grand tourism fair being organized with the participation of the tourism entrepreneurs from both Nepal and India would add a new dimension in development of tourism in Lumbini.



During the fair, the entrepreneurs would have opportunity to share and exchange the experiences in tourism business promotion.



Meanwhile, the Lumbini Development Fund and the Indian Cultural Relations Council are organizing a workshop on ´Buddha Religion: Historical Buddhist sites in Nepal and India´ from 15 to 17 January.
