Govt to purchase 20,000 metric tons of fertilizer

KATHMANDU, July 6: The government has decided to purchase 20,000 metric tons of chemical fertilizers from India.

A cabinet meeting on Monday in Singha Durbar on Monday decided to import 20,000 metric tons of chemical fertilizers from India to ensure that the country faces no shortage of fertilizers.

"With the decision, the Ministry of Agriculture has been directed to immediately purchase fertilizers from India," said Minister for General Administration Lal Babu Pandit. He said the imported fertilizers will be distributed to farmers under the government's subsidized scheme.

Similarly, the cabinet also decided to appoint Gopal Basnet as the executive director of Budhi Gandaki Hydroelectric Project Development Committee.Pandit also informed that Gyani Yadav has been appointed as a member of Education Service Commission. "Likewise, two joint secretaries -- Suresh Adhikari of Ministry of General Administration and Binod Acharya of Prime Minister's Office -- have been transferred to foreign ministry to serve as consulate generals of Nepali missions in Saudi Arabia and Beijing," added he.
