The Finance Ministry has been recommended by the Energy Ministry for giving an exemption on the value added tax (VAT) of the construction materials to be used by those hydro power projects and provide soft loan to them. [break]
Maikhola Hydropower Project ( 22 megawatt), Upper Chaku ´A´ Project ( 22.2 megawatt), Spring Khola Project ( 9.6 megawatt), Pikhuwa Khola Project ( 2.4 megawatt), Bhairav Kunda Project ( 3 megawatt), Seuri Khola Project ( 4.9 megawatt), Andhi Khola Project ( 4.9 megawatt), Upper Mai Hydro Power Project ( 9.9 Megawatt ) are among those projects recommended for concession.
Prior to this, the seven projects were also recommended for the facilities.
According to Ministry´s Secretary Hareram Koirala, the projects recommended for the concession have reached the final phase of construction.
They have been recommended for soft loan up to Rs. 20 million at 10 per cent interest rate.Around 50 projects had applied for the concession at the Ministry, he said.
