KATHMANDU, Nov. 10: The government is set to bring full budget, no matter what, for preventing an economic crisis in the country.
A meeting of the ruling coalition took place at the Prime Minister´s residence at Baluwatar this evening decided to bring budget at any cost for freeing the country from an economic chaos.
The ruling coalition also warned the opposition parties against politicizing the budget, alleging that they were using as a means to meet their political interests.
Devendra Poudel, the Prime Minister´s political advisor, said that the opposition political parties have been urged not to politicize the budget as it is the lifeline of the country and instead extend cooperation to the government in bringing it.
The meeting of the ruling parties also decided to hold discussion with the opposition parties for one time on Sunday in a bid to forge consensus on the budget.
"Discussions were held in the meeting along the line that it would be better if consensus was forged in the discussions, and the government should bring the budget on November 12 even if consensus was not reached," Poudel said.
Stating that the government was preparing to bring full budget and that the Federal Democratic Alliance too has concluded that no one should obstruct the passage of the budget, the Prime Minister´s political advisor said that the UCPN (Maoist) chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has held discussions on this matter with the President from time to time and the President has given positive reaction to that end.
He added that the government decided to prepare for the full budget based on the positive response from the President.
The meeting of the ruling coalition partners also decided to hold discussions for the last one time with the opposition parties regarding the passage of the budget. It has urged the opposition parties to demonstrate sincerity and cooperate to the government to give an outlet to the country.
Poudel said the meeting discussed the topic of the UCPN (Maoist) chairman Dahal holding discussion with the former finance ministers, economists and finance secretaries on Sunday morning regarding the budget in an effort to forge consensus on the issue of budget.
At the meeting, Finance Minister Barshaman Pun, the Vice Chairman of the National Planning Commission and representatives of the Finance Ministry had briefed the meeting on the preparations being made for the budget.
The meeting concluded that although the opposition parties have been rhetorically saying that the budget should be brought on the basis of consensus, they are not receptive to the efforts and initiation towards forging consensus from the government´s side, so they were showing non-political character by this.
Present in the meeting were UCPN (Maoist) chairman Dahal, vice-chairman and Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai and the top leaders of the United Democratic Madhesi Front.
