KATHMANDU, April 28: The Public Procurement Monitoring Office (PPMO) has blacklisted seven companies, including one foreign firm, for failing to comply with contract terms and agreements.
According to a notice published on Tuesday, Italy-based ELC Electroconsult S.p.A. has been barred from participating in public procurement for two years. The action was taken following a recommendation from the Nepal Electricity Authority, which cited the company’s failure to complete study and consultancy services on time, as well as its inability to deliver required reports and designs necessary to move the project forward.
PPMO blacklists 22 firms, including 19 construction companies
Six other companies have been blacklisted for one year each. These include Anup Construction of Achham, Gorilla Nirman Sewa of Kailali, Kripa Engineering of Kathmandu, Gangotri Devi Nirman Sewa and Anshuman Nirman Sewa of Banke, and Achyut Construction of Jhapa.
The Department of Roads’ Division Office in Doti had recommended action against the companies from Achham and Kailali. Similarly, the Rohini Rural Municipality in Rupandehi recommended blacklisting of Kripa Engineering and the two Banke-based firms. Achyut Construction was blacklisted based on a recommendation from the Road Division Office in Ilam.
The PPMO stated that the companies were penalized for failing to meet contractual obligations and not delivering work as per agreed conditions.
