Gorkha Brewery supports Earth Hour

KATHMANDU, March 26: Gorkha Brewery is all set to support the Earth Hour this year too.



Earth Hour 2010 is scheduled from 8.30-9.30 pm Saturday. "It is a global call to stand up, take responsibility, get involved and lead the way towards a sustainable future," a release issued by the company said. Gorkha Brewery as a part of Carlsberg group supports the global actions on global issues such as climate change and global warming, it said.



People across the world turn off their lights during the hour. Gorkha Brewery´s website will go blank during the day leading to Earth Hour. All non-essential lights will be turned off during the hour, the release said.



Earth hour was initiated in 2007 when 2.2 million homes and businesses switched off their lights for one hour. In 2009, it became the biggest global climate change initiative with 88 countries and 4088 cities participating to cast their vote for Earth.
