The body has been identified as that of Rosy Maharjan, a resident of Kupandole, Lalitpur. Police suspect she was murdered by her boyfriend Subash Uprety on Friday. [break]
An initial investigation suggests she was shot in the head after she resisted her boyfriend trying to hold her captive in the jungle.
Her boyfriend, who had returned from the UK recently, is said to have tried to take her hostage with intent of extorting money from her better-off family.
Police held the victim’s boyfriend for questioning the same day. Further investigation into the case is underway.
