Some 34 French water treatment specialists from the General Directorate for Civil Protection installed a drinking water purification/treatment plant at the ground of the Alliance Française de Katmandou (AFK) in Teku, according to a press statement issued by Embassy of France in Kathmandu.The plant will produce clean drinking water with a maximum capacity of 200,000 liters of drinking water per day. "This drinking water will be distributed to the residents of Teku, Tripureshwar, Khokana, Sankhu etc by trucks. More areas of intervention will be identified in the days to come," the statement said.
Local residents may come directly to the AFK with their containers and collect drinking water.Drinking water will also be given to KUKL for distribution to the affected areas.
The plant was inaugurated on Tuesday in the presence of French Ambassador to Nepal Martine Bassereau, Executive Director of Kathmandu Valley Water Supply Board Sanjeev Bikram Rana, General Manager of KUKL Chandra Lal Nakarmi and other representatives of the local consumer group.
